Stable House

This family home is centred around a big living dining kitchen- an open space originally built as Victorian stables. The house is at the end of a terrace with no outside space and an unusual shape.

Before the refurbishment, this Stoke Newington house had been used as a garage and a carpenter’s workshop. Wilton Studio transformed the first floor into bedrooms and bathroom, with new windows looking to three sides.

A generous spiral staircase brings light down and connects to the open plan living dining kitchen on the ground floor. The kitchen is fully glazed to the front covered courtyard, which brings in light through its glazed roof. In summer the roof can be opened and provide outside sitting area with a water feature and planting.

The refurbishment benefits from surprising views and combines a mix of original features with new elements.
