We achieved a planning consent for this central Kingston site between a railway and a busy road to erect a six storey mixed use building. This tight site is restricted by the noise from the road and the railway, with the further challenge ofworking distance and the proximity to the rail embankment.
The street elevation of the building features scattered small openings in a façade that resembles a fabric of various bricks and stones. It creates a stark front that will be lit up at night. The flats are arranged so that the main living areas face away from the road, with full height glazing to timber-framed balconies with views out into the garden and along the overgrown railway corridor. The rear steps down to meet the height of the lower adjoining buildings.
Within this building provides a restaurant at ground floor and 9 flats above.
